There really is no other place quite like Boo Cat Club in St. Louis. Its clean, warm styling is reminiscent of the roaring ’20s, and there are little pops of personality hidden throughout the venue that will make every guest’s experience totally unique.

On the main level, you have the expansive ceremony and reception spaces found in the Ballroom and the Theatre. The upstairs area boasts two great balconies overlooking the main spaces, as well as an eccentric bar and cozy getting-ready room. Downstairs is a hidden gem. The subterranean Catacombs feature sturdy columns and brick flooring, and the Indigo lounge gives some STRONG speakeasy vibes.

Loveland Estates

This is our first divergence from the geographical normal. Loveland Estates is a 40-minute drive from St. Louis city but it’s an all-inclusive venue nestled in a quiet setting. If you’re looking for more space to spread your wings on your wedding day, this just might be the perfect place for you!

Tucked away just off of I-70, Loveland Estates features a pond, dock, a small farm, a beautiful patio, a breathtaking loft, and ample room for your ceremony and reception, both indoors and outdoors. Stone House of St. Charles

Stone House of St. Charles is a rustic, classic space that’s about 30 minutes from downtown St. Louis. It’s easily accessible and a great solution for an all-inclusive wedding day. There are separate spaces available for both partners to get ready, each with luxury amenities to keep everyone entertained and comfortable.

The house itself was finished in 1903 and brings all the requisite charm with it. Behind the house, you’ll find Sycamore Hall, which is a massive structure that can comfortably seat 400 guests for a meal. We’ve had a great experience photographing weddings at this venue - the photo opportunities are endless!

Verde on Cherokee

Verde on Cherokee is a vibrant, intimate venue located in the heart of St. Louis’ Antique Row. This venue is absolutely gushing with charm and warmth and is a perfect option for those in need of a private space for their ceremony or reception without needing to pay for all the amenities.

Verde will be the first to tell you, they are not a full-service venue. This keeps the investment down but still allows couples to have their wedding in a totally unique setting. Verde is split up into a few key areas, with the main features being the outdoor patio and the greenhouse. If you’re hosting a smaller wedding but still want to have a solid backup plan, Verde can accommodate both indoor and outdoor setups. The entire venue has a max capacity of 100 guests, but it really shines with guest counts between 30-40 in our experience.

The McPherson

The McPherson is truly a gem located squarely in the Central West End! While it’s relatively unassuming from the outside, the venue opens up to a dramatic, 30-foot beamed ceiling and original stone accents. Couples have access to a huge courtyard in the back of the space for outdoor ceremonies and there are indoor getting-ready spaces for both parties.

A common complaint I hear from couples and see at weddings is that there are often long lines at the bar. The McPherson has two bars to efficiently quench the thirst of all your guests, and plenty of room outside of the main areas for folks that need to take a break from the reception partying! I’ve photographed winter weddings at this venue, and I can confidently say that this venue is a great option for an “off-season” wedding! For events up to 250 guests, this may just be the venue for you!

I mean… LOOK AT THOSE WINDOWS! Their preparation suite is a huge asset to a couple’s wedding day, and it offers a secluded and comfortable space for the wedding party to get ready for the rest of the day. Haue Valley calls itself “more than just a beautiful place to say I Do,” and we couldn’t agree more. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the venue is flexible: They encourage you to make your wedding as upscale or as casual as you’ve imagined.

There are 3 main areas: The 4,500 sq. ft. outdoor terrace, the 6,000 sq. ft. cocktail area with a full custom bar, and the 5,300 sq. ft. ballroom. Cooler wedding days will find that the ballroom works wonderfully for both the ceremony and dining at the reception, while the cocktail area is a great space for dancing. The terrace is always a welcome place to enjoy a cool breeze or a nice cigar, if that’s your thing! Nestled in the heart of downtown St. Louis, your guests will find parking a breeze with the private, secure parking lot behind the building. The point is, the Caramel Room, with its 320-guest capacity, is an amazing choice for any couple that wants all the amenities in a single venue.

The Larimore is a gorgeous family-owned wedding venue that’s set on a breathtaking vintage estate. For those couples in the St. Louis area wanting to add a vintage, elegant aesthetic to their big day, the Larimore could very well be a great choice for you!

Worried about the rain? With 5 unique spaces on 6 sprawling acres, this venue has plenty of options - indoor and outdoor - so that you’re covered (literally) for any type of forecast. The Mansion boasts classy parlors and the bridal suite, while the Banquet Center includes space for ample dining and celebration! The Wedding Gazebo, The Chapel, and The Gardens are perfect for everything in between. The Jewel Box

The Jewel Box is an iconic St. Louis wedding venue, and for good reason. Its lush, plentiful greenhouse is beautiful on the inside, and the Art Deco styling on the exterior is breathtaking. Constructed in 1936 and majorly renovated in 2002, it’s a striking place to hold your upcoming St. Louis wedding ceremony or reception.

Located in the heart of historic Forest Park, this space is a no-brainer for couples who want a splash of green in their modern St. Louis wedding.

The Historic Daniel Boone Home

If you’re into history, The Historic Daniel Boone Home is a venue you don’t want to miss. The property spans nearly 300 acres and is nestled within the rolling hills of Missouri wine country. The wedding portion of the venue consists of the Old Peace Chapel and the Grand Pavilion. The Old Peace Chapel was built in the 1800s and offers a vibrant yet cozy setting for your ceremony, while the Grand Pavilion boasts a sweeping view of the village below and can comfortably seat up to 200 guests!

This venue is great for couples looking for a more affordable option that doesn’t sacrifice the size of their guest list.

Sweet Clover Farm

Sweet Clover Farm Events is one of the more unique “barn” venues we’ve had the pleasure of shooting at! They have a wide variety of amenities, from multiple ceremony location options, an enclosed and climate-controlled reception space, to a fully-featured “getting ready” building. Their extensive inventory of decor and a lengthy list of included amenities will aid any couple in planning a wonderful wedding day.

The venue is built to seat up to 180 guests, so it’s perfect for a mid-sized wedding in the middle of Missouri wine country!

St. Louis WEDDING VENUES FAQ

HOW MUCH DOES A WEDDING COST IN St. Louis?

The average cost of a wedding in St. Louis was between $29,643 and $36,231 from 2016-2019. In 2020 the average cost was brought down to $30,044 due to the rise in elopements related to the effects of the pandemic. However, experts are predicting that cost to rise in 2024 and beyond.

HOW MUCH DO WEDDING VENUES COST IN St. Louis?

Venue investments vary widely depending on your guest count, amenity preferences, and of course… Location, location, location! St. Louis, MO wedding venues roughly begin at $4,000-$6,000 for 50 people, but average between $12,900-$15,800 for larger weddings.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE SIZE OF A WEDDING?

Most weddings that I photograph in St. Louis are between 100-150 people, while larger non-western weddings can be upwards of 300 people. Micro-weddings usually have 50 guests or fewer, and an elopement typically has fewer than 10 guests. That might consist of the couple, two sets of parents, the officiant, and the photographer.

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR IN A WEDDING VENUE?

I suggest looking for a St. Louis wedding venue that can accommodate all parts of the day, too much travel to multiple locations can throw a wrench in your timeline and become more of a hassle than it’s worth. Ideally, a wedding venue has two prep suites, a space for the ceremony and reception, and is centrally located or has onsite opportunities for unique photographs.

WHAT ARE THE MOST POPULAR TYPES OF WEDDING VENUES?

Historic buildings, estates, museums, greenhouses, and gardens can all be amazing St. Louis wedding venues depending on your needs. Once you’ve booked your venue, the next step is a photographer! Feel free to reach out below or see how I do things differently here.
